no answer is going to help you here. There's some very basic knowledge you need to remediate in order to actually understand the principles involved. FYI, it's not the pathogrem thing. it's called the pythagorean theorem. and it's one of the fundamentals of simple planar geometry. Learn your basics and this is a very easy question to answer.
