When someone says "Now that was easy wasn't it? are they being condescending or playful/supportive?

Like are they trying to be insulting in a very subtle manner or just playful like how you show a child something and say now that was easy wasn't it like your trying to reinforce there confidence in doing the task, and what do you think is a good comeback for that sort of response? i was thinking "Well i wouldn't know since i never performed the task"
